Visualising Data with Oracle Jet

Every business has lots of data. But what do you do with it as a developer? The London App Brewery partnered with Oracle on January 16th to talk about how to use Oracle JET to easily visualise data for both mobile and web apps.

Oracle JET is a toolkit that allows you to build interactive dashboards and visual analytics with a rich set of UI components and much, much, more.

Geertjan Wielenga, Principal Product Manager in the Oracle Developer Tools group showed the App Brewery community the exciting world of open source data visualisation tools using mobile and web applications built on JET.

The event took place in Oracle’s newly refurbished Helicon building and we managed to pack out an audience of keen mobile and web developers. Everyone really appreciated how Oracle is taking an open source approach based on existing libraries and technologies, rather than reinventing the wheel and building new frameworks.

We learnt that JET is based on JavaScript, CSS3, and HTML5 and how it can be used to build useful applications for business users. Editing a chart’s code in-browser and previewing the changes live was particularly impressive. And that’s on top of the detailed documentation and online cookbook.
